High-visibility clothing sometimes known as "hi-viz", is
any clothing worn that has highly reflective properties or a
colour that is easily discernible from any background. Most industrial
employers require it as a type of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The sun’s ultraviolet rays react with the
fluorescent colours to make them appear to ‘glow’ increasing daytime
visibility. The effect is enhanced in poor light conditions such as in foggy
weather.

REQUIREMENTS
According to HSE the most common cause of death in the workplace is caused by being struck by a moving vehicle. It is therefore imperative that any high visibility clothing issued to employees conforms to the standards (BS EN471 – European Standard for High Visibility Clothing).
